On a side note, what specific policy has the republican party done to benefit blacks?  Heck, right after the voting rights act was dismantled a couple years ago, republican run states began immediately making it harder for blacks to vote.

The civil rights movement was liberalism.  The OP would still be sitting at the back of the bus and drinking from "colored" water fountains if a whole bunch of liberals didn't decide to change the status quo of conservatives, for crying out loud.
