It's interesting to note that he said "a winning season is a 'reasonable' expectation". This is not quite the same as saying that a winning season is mandatory... or else. Now I'm one who has been adamant that a .500 season (8-8) is both a realistic goal and should be viewed as the 'benchmark'. Another sub .500 season this year and there should be career ending consequences (at least in J'ville) for the head coach and at least one assistant coach. 

 

We are currently at 2-3; for us to reach the 'lofty' goal of at least an 8-8 season, we'll need to defeat (at least) six more teams on our schedule. That means six more victories out of eleven remaining games. Say we 'split' with the texans, tacks, and colts (a big presumption, I might add). Maybe we pull out a win against the lions, and maybe, just maybe, a win over the raiders. That's only five wins total for a 5-11 season. For us to reach 8-8 we're going to have to achieve at least three 'upset' victories.

 

We had a good shot at upsetting the packers and ravens, but blew the opportunity. Now were probably going to have to sweep one or more of our own division opponents to reach 8-8.

 

I doubt that's happening this season, but I hope I'm wrong.
