Quote:When people say, "The season is over," after only six games, they are giving up.; Fans don't give up on their favorite team. You have to be optimistic about the chances we will get better both individually and as a team even if a playoff berth is almost impossible. JIB is not saying we should expect to win the division. He believes this team is not the Titanic.

The season, like it or not, from a historical and statistical point of view is technically over. Fans don't give up on their favorite team. I agree. They just look forward to the next season. You do realize if we have another losing record this season that it officially marks nine or ten straight seasons without a winning record and play-off appearance? That will wear down any fan base. The whole point of playing any competitive sport is to win as much as possible and make it to the big dance. Fortunately I wasn't foolish enough to drink the off-season hype and kool-aid. I didn't expect this team to be 10 - 6 or 11 - 5 with a play-off appearance. I was aiming to see this team flirt with maybe 6 - 10 or 7 - 9. Now it's looking more and more likely with the lack of running game, mental errors in the penalty department and turnover prone offense that we will be lucky to see them finish 4 - 12 or 5 - 11. Does it upset me as a fan? That they couldn't hit even my lowest of low standards and expectations? Sure it does. But most fans will have that same sentiment and will be quietly tuning in or showing up to watch them play. But that's the life of a fan.

"What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king."
