Bring in a new HC and give him time as the team grows, essentially giving the coach a pass for the first few years until the roster gets a point where it should be competitive. That time has come and gone for Gus. But to bring in a new coach, gut the roster, and then fire him after 1 year makes no sense.
 

Basically, they hired the wrong guy. Seattles defense hasn't missed a beat since Gus left, so it's not like he was the mastermind defensive coordinator we all like to make him out to be.

 

He is just a guy with an overly positive attitude and unfortunately, it has taken them 4 years to realize that.
