Because we spent a third overall pick on Bortles and he's shown enough ability to be a good quarterback if he can cut down on the turnovers, and turn up early to more games rather than pile on the stats in garbage time.


I doubt we are going to move on from Bortles at this point. He will get another year under a new head coach, at that point if he is still struggling and we are struggling, maybe they bring in competition for him. But even quarterbacks like ryan Tannehil got extended despite being inconsistent and never making the play offs, but showing enough ability to warrant another year he's in his fifth year with the Dolphins.


So I'd say it's pretty safe to say any new head coach will have to want to come and work with Blake Bortles. Only way we may move on from him is if he goes Ryan Fitzpatrick on us, at that point, maybe we do move on. But in all likelihood Bortles is our quarterback next season and our next head coach will have to accept that.
