I've already stated what he should have done.  He should have stood above the fray and become a bridge the way true leaders do.

 

Instead, he incited more division by not addressing the lie of "hands up don't shoot."  He wasn't a voice of reason when he defended the rioters, instead of denouncing that behavior.  And, even from the very start, described the "Beer Summit" cop as acting stupidly.  That's childish.  Whenever any racial issue came up, instead of being a voice of reason all could look to, he instead either took a side or remained on the sidelines without comment.

 

There are no sides in any of this if it's going to be resolved.  We're either together or apart, and he missed that opportunity in his role as our leader.  Not yours, not theirs, not mine... our leader.  Cop brutality isn't a racial issue.  It affects us all.  That was never addressed.  The lies were instead let run on and on.
