The IRS, as is, is misused and bloated.  Doing things they were never intended to do.  The regulations themselves are a labyrinth of wasted time and money.

 

It needs to be re-formed, not just reformed.

 

But, I don't see anyone having the guts to be so bold.  There's too much misinformation and fear from those who want to keep it old and antiquated, and reject progressive thoughts on replacing the IRS and taxation with a better model.

 

"Changing the tax system" which I am for, is not the same as "eliminating the IRS."   All the IRS does is enforce the current tax code.  It's not their fault the tax code is written the way it is.  

 

Of course, if you go to a national sales tax, or a VAT, or something similar, the IRS would take on a whole different form.   That's fine with me.   But just saying "Eliminate the IRS" without saying "change the way we pay and collect taxes" would be kind of stupid.
