In the CFP''s first season, everybody was crying about TCU and Baylor being omitted just because Ohio State had a conference championship game to play in. Fans wanted an eight-team playoff format.

 

This year, two top 10 teams are in the same division (Big 10 East) and have to meet on November 26. That also happened in 2006, when Ohio State was #1 and Michigan was #2. The difference now is there's a CCG to play. Michigan can win in Columbus, lose in Indianapolis, and maybe clinch a playoff berth. That would depend completely on Washington losing the Pacific 12 CCG unless the Huskies somehow get their first loss before then. No doubt about it; a bigger playoff format would help the Wolverines this year.
