The draft is a crapshoot. Nothing is guaranteed. The best player in the entire class may not be the player taken first, second, or third overall.

 

Heck, just look at last year's draft to see that this is true. I can't find a name in the first 15-20 that I would consider the best player in the draft.

 

I know it's only been a year and maybe somebody will develop into the best player that yr but so far, meh.

 

The draft indeed can be a crapshoot. I can't count how many teams picked in the top 5 after spending many hours scouting, interviewing and watching the combine only to end up with a dud of a top 5 pick. It happens nearly every single year.
