If the Draft were today who would we pick?

#53

I don't see a QB being worth a top five selection this year at all. None of them are really sure fire prospects. I am fixing to go out on somewhat of a limb here. And this really does boil down to who is the next head coach and/or general manager.

I think with the third overall pick we're looking at a guy like Jonathan Allen, the DT from Alabama. That kid is a monster inside for the Crimson Tide. He did great last year and he's double dipped again in 2016 by being even more great. He's a well rounded player. I am hoping they'll revert back to a more traditional 4 - 3 defense next year. And if they do. Having Allen paired up with Jackson in the middle could go a long way for us next year on what I already think and feel is a decent starting defensive squad. Allen is being compared to Aaron Donald which is huge praise. And I think he'll live up to it. I am still on the fence about Fowler right now. But he's flashed here and there. And you can only increase his odds of getting to the QB by adding a top prospect like Allen to the inside next to him.

My dark horse pick is Lenoard Fournette. It wouldn't shock me at all if the next coach comes in and feels that we're struggling obviously with Bortles but we don't have an answer in this year's first round to replace him or free agency to replace him. So you try to take the pressure off of him by adding the best RB prospect behind him and in this offense. This kid is a thumper. And if Ivory continues to put the damn football on the ground and Yeldon keeps kind of going one step forward one week but two steps backwards the next week. We will need a more consistent fixture in the backfield. I think the running game can be improved next year. I think Hackett figured out a way to use our personnel better and it's shown since he took over the play calling in Kansas City.

I know everyone wants offensive lineman in a few months but it's not a very deep class on the top end prospect wise. I wouldn't mind a solid Center in RD2 or RD3 to move Linder back to LG or RG though. That's a start.
