Yes it does prove something: David Caldwell is sometimes a BAP drafter. He went BAP again only one more time, in the fifth round, so the word sometimes is important.

If Caldwell was really worried of a team leapfrogging us he would just offer a trade himself.  Say he offers a 5th and our 1st to move up one spot it's a win/win for both teams. The Rams have Sam Bradford who has a career rating of over 90. They are in desperate need of protection so they are going Jake Matthews.  The Jags may want to go either a QB or Clowney in the 1st round.  There is no danger of the Jags taking another tackle because Joeckle will be 100% by training camp and the 2 current starting tackles are playing pretty well. 

 

Nice idea, but nobody is going to let it happen. We gave up a fourth to move up two spots in the top 10 last year. Moving up one in the top 5 would cost our third rounder if we are lucky.

 

Trading up only one spot is stupid unless you know for a fact that is the only way to avoid getting leapfrogged for a player you want.
