Google home, Amazon echo home automation in general

I like the idea of the Amazon Echo, but I won't do it for the very reason mentioned in the OP. I'd rather just manipulate compatible housewares from my iPhone. I have the "Hey Siri" function turned off, but I suppose it's probably still listening to me anyway so there may be no getting away from it.
