Quote:Dak Prescott and Mariota did the same. Derek Carr played in a short pass heavy offense in college. Bortles has been a 3 year starter in the NFL. Like it or not. I don't see anything about Watson that makes me believe he will ever be a starter in the NFL. As for the QB's mentioned, I thought Prescott might eventually be a starter in the NFL, but he would have to drastically change his play, since he can from a very different offensive scheme than most teams run. Admittedly, he surprised me and has been a very good starter right away, albeit behind the best O-Line in the NFL, a solid group of receivers and arguably the best young RB in the NFL. I saw too saw potential in Mariota and thought he'd be a decent starter. Again, he has turned out to be much better than I thought he would be, but like Prescott, he has one of the best RB's in the NFL, possibly the best young OT tandem in the NFL a solid O-Line and some decent receivers. Say what you want, but Carr took took more shots down the field than you'd think at Fresno State and many people expected big things from him. He threw a lot in college and showed good accuracy and made solid decisions. Nothing about his success in the NFL has surprised me. I saw him as a very good immediate NFL starter. I just don't anything about Watson that makes me believe he is anywhere near the level of the QB's mentioned above. I see a guy who lacks composure and bails out way too early by either running the ball or checking down to his nearest receiver, no matter if it will go for a gain or not. To me, that's not NFL potential. You can disagree with me, but that's what I see. If you put him on our team with no running game, a flawed O-Line and receivers who look like they've regressed, it would be a disaster. |
