Ivory is a good back.  Good enough to lead the AFC last year. 

 

We have glaring issues with Run Blocking, and RT and LG are a big part of that.  Our RBs rarely have a hole to run through.  When they HAVE been there, Ivory has shown explosiveness. 

 

Zeke would look pedestrian in our offense right now.  Combined with sub-par run blocking, opposing defenses are not afraid of getting beat deep allowing them to sit on short routes, and thus, be in the box ready to stuff run plays.  We're just not executing in a way that would allow ANY RB to look good right now.

 

I fully expect our first 2-3 rounds to be OL and Defense.  OL due to sheer need, and Defense because you can never have enough quality D-Linemen and DBs.  Linebacker I fully believe we are fine.  Myles Jack is already struggling to find the field.

 

 

Is it just the run blocking? Remember, Ivory had a "mystery illness" at the beginning of the year. I don't know, but to me, he doesn't look like the same guy I saw with the Jets last year. He looks slower getting off the line, (he was never really fast to begin with) and his field vision seems not as sharp as it was. I watch him run now and he just looks like "a guy". I was excited when we brought him in, but the version we got looks like a shell of his former self. He's not the "run you over" type physical player he was in New York. He gets caught really easy and he goes down on first contact way too much. RB is a tricky position. You can only live off name recognition for so long. One season you can be really good and the next season your career can hit a wall. It's the nature of the position. To me, Ivory looks like he has hit that wall and it's time to move on. He was never really an every down back to begin and pairing him with the failure that is T.J. Yeldon, has been a disaster. It's time to move on and find our Ezekiel Elliott or DeMarco Murray type RB.
