Brett Smith declares

Quote:Ok, finally a mid round QB I can get behind (along with Garoppolo if he falls to round 3/4) if Dave passes on the big 3 QBs. Anyone who likes Manziel will love Smith. They are extremely similar stylistically but Smith is a fair amount bigger, with better arm talent, and has somewhat better judgement (though he isn't great there either). He was also surrounded by literally the worst talent, especially oline, I have ever seen too, save for Herron who is pretty decent.

Seriously, Smith is flat out better than Manziel not to mention he will be discounted several rounds lower.

Here is his draftbreakdown page, his big profile games against Texas and Nebraska are outstanding and the rest show lots of flashes too (especially Hawaii which unfortunately doesn't have a cutup):

Here is a quick post Brugler did for CBS where he said basically what I did but obviously much more in depth:

I have had an eye on Wyoming for the past two years. I reached a conclusion that Brett Smith is a rookie free agent talent.

The pro scout eyes will all be on his team mate WR Robert Herron. He's a LA Dorsey High product. He will get noticed at the Senior Bowl. He will have a bombastically good time at the Scouting Combine raising eyebrows with his zip speed. He will contend for fastest man in the 2014 NFL Draft...and he's NOT a track guy. Super smooth hands.

The problem with Herron is this...he, like five-sixths of the current Jaguars' receiving corps, is too small (lacks practical durability) to play outside. That means Bob will have to find a career as a NFL slot receiver.

Same goes for Cowboys' other WR, Dominic Rufran, who was every bit as dependable catching the football this year.
