 IMO,  on the surface the Texans would be crazy if they let Bill O'Brien go.   I think he's a top 10 NFL HC,  especially when factoring in the work of his coaching staff.   if the Texans fire O'Brien,  Shad Khan and Dave Caldwell should be on speed dial to set up an interview and be prepared to make O'Brien an offer that would be difficult for him to turn down.

 

 Though i realize and respect there are different ways to look at the same set of data,  performance,  and circumstances,   the primary reason why i think Bill O'Brien has done a terrific job is the Texans have bottom 5 NFL collective QB play this season.   The difficulty to get to 9-6 under this circumstance is extremely high.   On top of that,  the Texans hardly had J.J. Watt this season.   He's probably been the best NFL Defensive player in the first half of this decade.   

 

 Since O'Brien has been in Houston,  he's hardly had J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney available at the same time,  when both were relatively healthy.   Even with that and the QB position being light years from Pro Bowl caliber since he became Texans HC,  he's had 3 winning seasons and 2 division championships.    The Texans have had more than their share of injuries in recent years,  yet they have been a winning franchise each season O'Brien has been their HC.
