Yeah some of his reads are pre determined. A spread scheme still has progressions and reads the same way a pro style does. Just the reads and progressions have different outcomes. Carr, Mariota, Prescott all came from similar schemes. All have no problem reading a defense.


3. Yeah I agree with you there his arm was looked weird this year compared to last. Still has been one of the most effective deep passers in the college football the last two seasons. Has the arm to make every NFL throw.

 

He's closer to 6'1 by all reports. If you can play you can play, but he also has a low release point which leads to a lot of batted passes.

 

I agree that he's more of a passer than a runner. He doesn't take off without reason.

 

A lot of his reads are pre determined. He knows how to read coverage, but they only have him reading half the field. A lot of his INT's have come from not looking the defense away, so the safety or lineback reading eyes will slide over on him. It's literally snap the ball, and wherever he looks 9/10 off the snap he's throwing it that way. It doesn't mean he can't look the defense off, I just haven't seen much evidence of him doing it. He does not progress through his reads much unless he's hitting a checkdown option.

Gonna have to slightly disagree on his arm as well. He won't have arm strength issues, but his deep ball needs work. It's either an overthrow, or an underthrow. About 10-15 yards he's great. His deep ball however is nothing special IMO. Ball placement needs work as well in his mid game.
