While I think that Dave is largely to blame for the state of the franchise, I do think that he's improved from his first year.  The problem with hiring both a rookie GM and rookie HC is that they have no track record in those positions to judge them by.  

 

Dave's last FA and draft class is significantly better than year 1.  That shows that he's learned his lessons and maybe, just maybe, he's hired the right scouts and everything to make better decisions.  

 

So - yes, he is to blame for the record this year, but if he isn't fired then I'm not going to have any heartburn over it.  If he screws up the coaching hire again and Blake doesn't show any progress in his contract year, then he'll be gone after next year and it will all be for naught as we go through yet another rebuild.  

 

Let's just sit back and relax and enjoy the ride.  

 

And maybe if they hire Tom Coughlin as President of Football Operations, then we may even have a chance at the playoffs next year.
