Don't blame a guy who might have had no say in firing Gus. How can you be sure that the problem with Joeckel and Bortles was with the players, rather than a failure to develop then by the coaching staff? I think that's especially true of the DBs, not one of whom have developed beyond the skills they showed in their first year with the team. Bortles has looked a whole lot better since Gus was fired. Caldwell has brought a lot of free agents to the Jags. Most were fine their first year with the team but dropped off in their second year. Again that points to coaching, not talent evaluation.
