On The Eve Of Black Monday
|
Quote:I think that given the circumstances surrounding the team and roster at the time, that proven, available HC's that wanted to come here was a pretty short list. Being that Shad's boy is highly invested in analytics and Gus Bradley was hitting high marks in that area of study, it's not unreasonable to think that Dave may have been influenced somewhat into making the hire. All of this stuff happens behind closed doors, so there's really no way to know who wanted what for any certainty. All I know is that the job seems to be a more attractive one than it was in 2012, so there's that.Tony Khan has zero to do with Dave Caldwell, which has zero to do with the coaching hire or the players brought in via draft or FA. Tony is the sons owner, who probably will own the team one day. Dave Caldwell is responsible for anything personnel wise. I will agree that Shad wanted his son to run the analytics and the team was invested in some capacity with it, but even Caldwell said its a very small portion. Yes, the job at the time wasn't something an experienced coach would be highly interested in, but Caldwell had many interviews and ultimately chose Bradley over a variety of candidates. |
