I don't think that all that many working class Europeans are happy either, there have been a lot of angry votes there recently. But if you just talk to the ruling elite class, I'm sure you'd get that impression.

The fact is other countries with more socially progressive policies have much better standards of living. Hey just look at the country to the north.


Straying slightly off the tourist track in the US you forget you are even in a first world nation. Probably why you guys are underrepresented as tourists here too. Nobody gets enough paid holiday or can afford it. But you keep voting to punch yourself in the face.
