I don't know why everyone is afraid to take Cook. The whole argument about the offensive line being weak in run blocking may not even hold much water now when you go back and look at the numbers once Olson was fired and Hackett took over the play calling. 

 

With Olson: 508 yards on the ground with 2 100+ yard games through seven games

With Hackett: 1,123 yards on the ground with 1 200+ yard game, 3 100+ yard games and only one game with less than 80 yards on the ground through nine games

 

And Hackett was able to pull that off with a weaker starting offensive line at the time between the injuries occurring in the interior line and against much stouter defenses having played the houston tinhorns twice, Denver, Minnesota and Kansas CIty.

 

Cook shouldn't be out of the discussion if the best available defenders are off the board. Again, he may end up being the BAP on our board in a few months. Recent years with guys like Gurley and Elliot cracking the top ten. And with Gordon showing he was worth the top 15 or top 20 investment the Chargers made in him.

 

The RB value is going back up in the NFL. Bortles could use all the help he can get in 2017 if we can't flat out replace him. Cook is being compared to guys like Chris Johnson / Clinton Portis. Fournette is being compared to guys like Adrian Peterson. I wouldn't be shocked at all if both of them go inside the top 10.
