Chip Kelly interviewing as OC

Quote:I think it actually has a different effect for me. Because of Gus, I am more skeptical and less trusting. I am not as eager to just give anyone the reins. And Chip seems to me to be a coach that is hellbent on making "his" scheme work. Personally I've had enough of that the past few years.I think I'm with you on this. We don't need another coach who is going to try to force 'his' scheme even when it's apparent that it isn't working. We've suffered through almost four years of that already and we don't need another dose. I would further add that while I would prefer for Blake to have success here, I've got some doubts as to if this 'scheme' would really be a good fit for him. I'm just not that confident in Bortles as a a quarterback at this time and he's going to have to really do something to regain that confidence in him from me. Is Chip Kellys brand of offense the answer? Well... NYC4Jags isn't that sure about it, and neither am I. I think Kellys scheme certainly has some merit; but it takes some pretty high caliber talent to make it successful, and I'm not sure if we really have it on offense. We have some pretty good receivers.. except when their dropping passes. Yeldon isn't bad... except when he's hurt; and Blake Bortles is... well... unpredictable. In any case, I would prefer an offensive coach who is talented enough that he can adjust the offense to what the opponents are doing and not have 'tunnel vision'; that is, he is only willing to run 'his' offensive scheme... regardless if it's working or not. |
