I'm just finding it hard to envision a conversation between he and Olson where Olson was adamantly pounding the table that he didn't want him to go to California.  I think its entirely more plausible that he may have said a few things in passing like "yeah what they're teaching you is great, but I think you should try to focus on _____ this offseason."  Not only that, but Olson can't work with him during that period so you really think Olson just told him "don't worry about working with any professional QB coaches in the offseason, just go throw with your receivers and you and them make your own schedule."?   Not buying it.  And if that's the way it played out, it's still on Bortles for thinking that was going to be ok.

 

Bortles relaying the story about Olson after the season was over was an attempt to exonerate himself for his poor play in 2016.  Real leaders take ownership of issues that arise, even when they're not 100% responsible for it.  He'd have been better served by keeping it to himself even if there is truth to it.
