2017 Jaguars Yardstick For Success

Eight wins. Looking at our defense and an improved ground game with what we have in the receiving game. No excuses not to finish .500 this season. Our schedule isn't all that tough nor intimidating on paper this year.

The houston tinhorns still have a questionable QB situation. A sweep of them is not out of the question. We play the Ravens in London. We play the Jets. We play Cleveland. We play San Francisco. We play the L.A Rams and L.A Chargers. We split the series last year with the indianapolis clots and tennessee tacks.

That's at least eight to nine contests that I see as winnable this year. Pittsburgh, Arizona (If, and only if Palmer is healthy), Seattle & Cincinnati are really the only four games I see on this schedule where we could get our butts handed to us.

But those are the games I look forward to the most since these teams typically flirt with a play-off spot or outright earn a play off spot on a yearly basis now. These would be the games where I'd go "Okay, they're on the cusp of being a play-off team in 2018" or "Yup, same ol', same ol', they still have a lot of work to do".

But the rest of the schedule? Anything short of 8 - 8 in 2017 with a relatively clean bill of health on the roster? It'll be a let down.

"What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king."
