Not saying that the Eagles are a great team, but hitting on a bunch of mid to late round picks is how great teams get built.

 

The 1970s Steelers found John Kolb in the 3rd round and LC Greenwood in the 10th round of the 1969 draft, they found CB Mel Blount in the 3rd round of the 1970 draft, Dwight White in the 4th round and Ernie Holmes in the 8th round of the 1971 draft, Steve Furness in the 5th round the next year, and found John Stallworth and Mike Webster in the 4th and 5th rounds, respectively, in the 1974 draft.  The more recent Steeler teams hit on guys like Greg Lloyd, Joel Steed, Hines Ward, Neil O' Donnell, Brendan Stai, Earl Holmes, Larry Foote, Max Starks, Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders in the mid rounds.

 

The 1970s Cowboys hit on Charlie Waters, John Fitzgerald, Pat Toomay, Harvey Martin, Bob Breunig, Randy Hughes, Mike Hegamin, Herb Scott, Butch Johnson, Tom Rafferty, Tony Hill in the 3rd round or later, and the 1990s Cowboys saw Mark Stepnoski, Erik Williams, Leon Lett, Tony Tolbert and Brock Marion in the mid rounds as well.

 

The 1980s 49ers, in the 1986 draft alone, hit on Tom Rathman, Tim McKyer, John Taylor, Charles, Haley, Steve Wallace, Kevin Fagan and Don Griffin.  They also found guys like Michael Carter, Guy McIntyre and Bill Romanowski in the mid rounds.

 

The 1980's-1991 Gibbs era Washington teams featured numerous mid to late round picks playing prominent roles in their success, including Russ Grimm, Dexter Manley, Charlie Brown, Darryl Grant, Clint Didier (all from 1981), DE Charles Mann in 1983, Mark Rypien in the 6th round of 1986, and Mark Schlereth in 1989.
