You can realize that the largest share of the blame for what happened last year was his and still cheer him on this year.  It isn't and doesn't have to be mutually exclusive.  No one needs to come up with an excuse to cheer him and the team on which is what the constant apologizing for him by some appears to be.  And no one needs to take personal offense at any deserved criticism lobbed at Bortles game last year, yet there's a few here that apparently do.

It's just that the board seems to have a pitchfork and torches, silver bullet mentality when it comes to fixing this team.

 

Everything seems to get rolled into a single solution... as in "'x' has to go!" when there's an alphabet list of what's necessary to fix our overall situation.

 

For whatever reason... maybe it's fatigue of battling it so long, whatever the case... some are hoping to find the one thing, that silver bullet, that's going to solve everything.

 

Most of the time it comes in the form of one guy getting fired.  Player, coach, GM... whoever.  Some are already adding Coughlin is that newfound silver bullet, expecting him to magically put it all on his own shoulders, making him into their bullet.

 

Finding out what we can get out of Blake and deciding how to proceed (with or without him) is what the club will be pursuing this season.

 

Whatever any fan has pre-conceived about it either way will have no impact on the outcome.  That won't stop the "I told you so"s from happening from either side (depending on the outcome) when the dust settles.  Unfortunately...
