As you get older, does your inner self change?

Quote:I have a grandmother still alive at the age of 104.  I still get amazed when I talk to her about what she's seen in her lifetime.  From being alive during major world wars, the development of television and radio, telephones.  The advancements made in automobiles, seeing a man land on the moon, the invention of color television.  We then went to cable television then satellite television, computers, the internet and now "smart phones".  What she has seen and experienced during her lifetime blows me away, especially since I've only been alive for a very short period of that time frame.

I see so many people say something to the effect that "old people annoy them", but understand one thing.  Those "old people" were part of the generation that makes today's world possible.  Those "old people" built the world that we live in today.  I would bet that a CS graduate today couldn't program an old computer from back in the day when that technology was "cutting edge".

It's quite possible that those "old people" lived and possibly even were a part of WWII or other wars.  Some people need to get it through their thick skulls that people before us sacrificed and made a huge commitment for us.  It's because of the "old people" that we live as we do today and have the technology that we enjoy.

I find the older I get the more interesting I find people older than myself (and to realize how much I can learn from them).  This is something I totally missed when I was in my twenties.  Nowadays I'll go out of my way to speak to people who experienced things before I was born.  I'm old enough that I've actually started seeing people younger than myself become interested in my own experiences in the same way.  A few anyway.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
