Because we might think he has something left to contribute as part of a tandem. He's still Adrian frickin Peterson. Is he not an instant upgrade to everyone in our backfield?

 

Just because you don't agree with it does not make it irrational. We need to take the pressure off Bortles, AP wouldn't be that expensive, and if the AP of 2007-2015 is still in there, even on fewer carries, he would be worth a look. 

 

Were you also in the crowd that wrote him off after the knee injuries in college? Wrote him off after the 2011 knee injury? Wrote em off when he turned 30? Eventually father time is always right, but if you are lumping Peterson in with all the running backs we have seen that turned to mush after 30, you may end up proven wrong on him once again. If there is ONE running back that you would take a chance on being great after 30, wouldn't it be him? A short term deal?

 

You can build a case against any player in the league and say we are throwing our money away, and we can sit on 80 million of cap space and feel safe that we dodged another bullet, and keep wondering why our 80 million dollar team keeps losing to 155 million dollar teams and keep telling ourselves that we are rebuilding for a playoff run in 3-4 years, or we can try for a couple years. 

 

I doubt we will land him though. I think he wants to play for a contender and contenders see value in him instead of hoarding their cap space. 

 

Am I the only one who is feeling like a fan of one of those perennial basement dwelling MLB teams that won't spend a dime on the roster outside of some 2nd tier talent?
