Btw, Skuta can actually rush the passer as a 3-4 OLB if given a chance. ...so can Jonathan Woodard and Lerentee McCray.


 

 

I don't really support moving to a 3-4, but I like having the option. I miss the days when JDR was around as the defense would often switch up to a 3-4 (or his 3-3-5 that one season) for a series here or there.


 

Speaking of JDR...


 

Imagine how good he would be as a DC if he had all this talent.  He'd have loved Yannick, Jack and Ramsey.

Poz hated the 3-4.  Getting out of a 3-4 was one of his primary motivations in leaving Buffalo.

 

I am evolving on the idea of Telvin as an ILB.  I have been operating under the traditional paradigm of the 3-4 ILB as a big run plugger who can take on guards, stack and shed to get to the RB.  However, given the hybridization of defenses in the modern NFL, having Telvin Smith as an ILB in what technically would be a 3-4, would, in practical terms amount to a pseudo 3-3-5 nickel given his safety size and ostensibly better cover ability than the typical 3-4 run plugging ILB.

 

I know next to nothing about Kirby and Rush.  As such I remain unconvinced they represent an answer at ILB whether they are listed as ILBs on a Mid March roster or not.
