He's got that coach's kid pedigree with solid mechanics and above average football IQ. His "tape" shows he can already make all of the "game manager" type of throws with timing and accuracy consistently. He has a <a class="bbc_url" href='https://media.giphy.com/media/3oKIPip7P18tarAQUg/giphy.gif'>strong arm and a pretty accurate deep ball</a>.

He'll just need time to get his decision making up to speed in the league and probably no small amount of work at reading NFL defenses. Lots of his decisions were made for him in Cal's offense. Though he had a bit more freedom at Texas Tech as a freshman and sophomore.

He does have some accuracy issues at times, but nothing crazy.


If a team has the luxury of a veteran QB with a year or two of starting ability left and wants to groom the next guy - they could conceivably use the late first round pick on this kid.


I think his value makes more sense in the late second or early third, but I see why scouts might like him enough to gamble earlier.
