Even if you play more nickel than any defense in the league, there will be some very good starting nickel-backs in the second and probably third round of this draft. 

But this is a deep draft for edge rushers too.

 

Historically, teams have been able to find pass rushers in the 3rd and 4th round.

 

Jason Taylor was a 3rd round pick.

 

Jared Allen was a 4th.

 

Yannick Ngakoue was a 3rd round pick.

 

I still don't see how the logic is any different for nickel back vs. DL. 

 

The only thing that justifies the DL over DB is the whole "planet theory."
