Can you show where it was actually documented that he submitted any such formal request?  It's tough to deny something that hasn't happened, and based on most recent reports, that seems to be the case.  Lots of unnamed sources in the fake news reports from MSNBC and others saying his request was denied, but if you actually read the articles, there's nothing to indicate that there was actually a formal request submitted.  This is pure spin coming from your favorite fake news sources.

 

The only hint of this "request" for immunity was a statement by his lawyer where he said the following: "He is now the target of unsubstantiated public demands by Members of Congress and other political critics that he be criminally investigated. No reasonable person, who has the benefit of advice from counsel, would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch hunt environment without assurances against unfair prosecution."

 

That's not a formal request for immunity.  That's a lawyer saying what he would advise his client to do should he be brought before these committees to testify.
