IMO, some of his drumming to me is as if he answered a question asking for a single sentence answer with an entire paragraph with extra punctuation.


Not saying it's bad at all, just overkill at times.

Then you must consider Buddy Rich as down right prosaic. Peart does more than keep time. He is a dominant element of Rush's musical character. Merely being technical in a 3-man band is inadequate. His creativity is evident not only in the lyrics he wrote but in his abilities on the drum stand. Anything less would have doomed Rush to obscurity.
