Expecting a middle rounder (4 and beyond) to start in a need position, is still having a need position.  That's not satisfying a need.  It's merely checking a box and making no improvement at the position.

Yes, I know that's your contention.  And it's not without some merit.  But it isn't unreasonable or uncommon to find a starter in round 3.  Just watch the Chargers this year.  They had needs on the O-line.  And they have potentially filled them Their round 2 was Lamp and their round 3 was Feeney.  Both will likely start.  And their line will be better.  Since both are rookies there will be some growing pains.  But barring injury, it will solidify their line for years to come.

 

May this line will be better simply by adding Cam and the different team atmosphere under Marrone and Coughlin.  But I don't think Feeney is worse than half of our current O-linemen.
