Why does size matter so much?
|
I have been reading a lot of complaints about Johnny Manziel being too short and even some about Teddy Bridgewater's size. This is not new. Every year people say this guy is too short or that guy needs to pack on pounds. But is size really as important as people think?
I don't think so. I see big guys suck and get hurt. I see small guys star and stay healthy. I see overweight guys who are more at risk of injuries than small players. I think it matters a little bit, but not nearly as much as people say, and no player should be rejected for being too small if he has all of the skills and intangibles required to play his position. Don't get me wrong; I totally understand why people want tall receivers and quarterbacks. I just think the height and weight of a player should not be deterrants.
