It's probably more simple than a win-loss ratio, but I'd suggest that if we get anything less than seven wins, he will be gone, unless he's somehow performed miracles on the field and been badly let down by the rest of the team.


As for his own performance, would a repeat of 2015 be good enough? He set all sorts of records, but can we continue with him if he continues to turn the ball over at that rate?


And is it too simple to say we want a minimum of x TDs to x interceptions?

 

I feel like he needs to at least complete 62-63% of his passes for the year. This puts him in between the elite QB's and the average QB's. So, behind the elites and ahead of the average. Which is fair for a former third overall pick entering his fourth year. 

 

In other words. I am asking him to be a slightly above average QB in completion percentage in 2017. This means I am not expecting him to be Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady or Matt Ryan. 

 

I am expecting him to be Joe Flacco, Andy Dalton and better than most 2nd and 3rd year QB's that are in the NFL. Which he should be by now entering his 4th year as our starting QB. His 2015 performance wasn't good enough. He still led the NFL in turnovers that year. And he still had one of the lowest completion percentages. 

 

He needs to prove this year that he's not only going to limit his mistakes. But that when he does make a mistake that it's also not a blatant breakdown or due to poor fundamentals, poor mechanics and poor accuracy. And it can't go back the other way and into the endzone as an easy or gifted pick six. He needs to show that he's taken that next step up in reading and recognizing what he's seeing in front of him. 

 

He was sacked over 50 times his first two years here. Last year with a somewhat better line in front of him he was sacked 34 times. And he had the most pass attempts last year than he's ever had in his career. Being sacked 34 times with 625 pass attempts is pretty damn impressive. Especially with no pro bowlers to speak of pass blocking for him.
