Smoot weighed only 215 pounds entering college. He isn't a naturally large man like Campbell, is nearly 4 inches shorter than Campbell,  lacks the lower body mass preferred for the position and has average length in his arms. 

 

I see him as a talented project. I expect very little from him in year one but he'll be fun to keep an eye on. 

I hope he is a big step up fro Chris Smith and Ryan Davis.  And from "the way Fowler played last year".

 

On a side note, it seems like we have a minimal # for the NT position and like 6 Big Ends.  It's gonna be interesting with Campbell, Smoot, the undrafted guy supposed to be a gem, Demmick and Jonathan Woodard having been drafted with somewhat high hopes for his draft position. They all project to play that LDE and I'm sure there's a couple I'm missing.
