Not really.  When you were in 8th grade I'm certainly sure that you didn't follow the news or the happenings in DC.  Also think about it... the average 8th grade student is what... 12?  Maybe 13 at the most?

 

They are not adults and are not voters.  They have no concept of taxes, foreign policy, health insurance, etc..
