The Cherokee nation have an elected leadership that speaks for them in much the same way.  Their word should be heeded.
Just because you think Chrysler meant it respectfully 50 years ago when they picked the name doesn't mean Cherokee today find it respectful.

If we're gonna cater to certain people (which we have, so that train has left the station), you have to cater to all people.
