I probably dont have to story wise, but I bought them forever ago and may as well finish them before the new game since i'll probably never play them if I play the new one first. Andromeda is completely unrelated to 1-3. Different characters, story, etc. Andromeda takes place 600 years after the events of ME2, in fact, the pilgrimage ships to the Andromeda Galaxy leave the Milky Way in 2185 which is the year ME2 is set in. I've played through the trial available. It stops you from progressing once you got a certain part of the story. It seems pretty good, but also not sure how much long term value it has. I feel like I'm playing ME1 again. Driving a Rover around on planets from point to point. Don't think I'd pay full price for it.
