Fowler Hurt at Rookie Camp - Torn ACL

Quote:Man people. Worst case it is an ACL and he'll be back to form in 8-10 weeks. I'm not a professional athlete, but I recovered from a Grade 3 MCL and 2 ACL in the same knee. Recovered in about 8 weeks with no problems what so ever. Hardest part is rehab and learning to trust the strength of the knee again. This isn't the 60's and recovery to 100% is not a rare occurrence. He'll be fine and the Jags will press forward with what they already have.

8-10 weeks for an ACL tear? "Why aren't we funding this!!!"

Well......

That looked worse than S Marks, Beason, Welker, D rose,  and every other ACL tear ive seen. People should probably let reality set in..... that thing is torn. A sprain wouldnt come from non-contact drills like that, a PCL, LCL, or meniscus tear, he would be able to put a lot more weight on it than he did. Hes out for the season... id bet the farm on it.

Quote:We are all waiting to see. You can still say that this sucks for him to be carted off the field in his first practice. It's what a normal person feels.

Nobody here has cancelled their season tickets.
Look at some of the comments based on knowing absolutely nothing.

Yes, it sucks for him to be carted off.  But, we still don't know the extent of the injury.  We've all seen incidents where the video looked far worse and it was minor injuries, and we've seen guys just buckle standing in space who were done for the season.  You just don't know based on what we've seen where this lies.  To say he'll never be the same based on this is just sheer nonsense.  Even if it's an ACL, the player can come back 100%.  That's been proven time and time again in recent years in the NFL.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

um those would be sprains and like you said, youre not a professional athlete.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

2 months?  I thought standard recovery was 6 months for pros.

Huh

Didn't Von Miller have an ACL tear???

Achilles injuries are worse I believe.

Quote:They were in shorts and shells.  There was no significant contact.  It's not like they're beating these guys up out there.

Following your logic, they should never practice and just save it for Sundays.

yes, that's what im saying.  NEVER practice ever

An ACL is a minimum of 8-10 months.  Not weeks.  This is a professional athlete, and not some pencil pusher blowing out his knee.

Peterson tore his in December and people thought it was a miracle he was ready 9 months later for the first game of the year.

look at the video, Fowler is working hard to out maneuver his blocker and this happens.  hey, maybe take it easy for this meaningless drill there guy.

this was really worth it.  we got a couple shorts practices in where nobody learns anything they don't already know.  good job guys

You're basically laying it out that way by opining the reasoning behind having these rookie camps.  It's part of the process of becoming a player in the NFL, just as OTAs and Training Camp are the natural progression for preparing for the season.  Injuries happen.

A grade 3 sprain is an ACL tear.

Wow. Because Jaguars.

[BLEEP] our lives.

I really like Fowler and was looking forward to what he could do this year

Quote:Really sucks, I saw it and it looks like a hyper-extension or MCL. The way he's able to roll and bend his knee seems like it is NOT an ACL. He wouldn't be able to have any control over it and it would've had to extend way more to tear it. The dude is strong and rarely got hurt at Florida, so there's no reason his ACL would tear so easily off of that step he did. I could be wrong though, but stay positive guys!

And you also don't know what you're talking about. Not trying to be mean or anything, but every random joe 6-pack doesn't have education or experience to diagnose an injury from watching a video.

It could be nothing. It could be something serious. We don't know. Wait and see and let the doc update the team.

I've been around injuries and treated them for many years and a PT, and you simply don't know anything at this point.

Go watch Gurley tear his ACL. You can barely tell. He walked off with assistance. He himself didn't think it was anything serious. Then there are guys who hear a pop and feel instant pain for the same type of injury. We will see.
