Henne, Young, and Bowanko start on Sunday

Quote:That is a problem that they didnt see any of those guys as upgrades. It shows mis judge of talent. How much is monroe making? N9 9ne is saying monroe is elite.. even though you were while he was here in defense of gene smith.. but hes sure as hell better than what we have and baltimore is FAR from breaking the bank on him. Thats th8s teams problem.. we will spend on pools and score boards but not upgrades... now look at our oline.. draft8ng monroes replacement becuz we dont want to pay him is a joke when u see our cap situation and our line situation. That is a MASSIVE blackmark on this regime since they failed miserably at replacing him and baltimore did not break the bank for him
This post is worthy of The TU comments section. It meets all the mandated ignorant talking points. Spend on pools and scoreboards? Really? My god you're clueless.

Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.

I was never on the Monroe is "elite" side of the fence and part of me always assumed Joeckel was going to come right in and be just as good if not better than Monroe. Now, in hindsight, seeing that Joeckle may not be that franchise LT, we could have just given Monroe a new contract and used that 2nd pick on someone else.

The hindsight of seven starts? Well at least you were patient.

All I am saying is Eric Fisher looks a lot better than LJ and this is his first year playing LT. Not saying he is a bust, just saying he hasn't justified the FO move to get rid of Monroe yet.

You do realize that the money spent on the pools and stadium upgrades have nothing to do with the money spent on player salaries and the salary cap, right?  Please save that type of comment for the Times Union.

Bingo.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This is ALL about some sort of feeling of obligation to chad. He wouldnt be starting otherwise. Fisch said today that bortles would be ready. So there you have it. We finally have a qb, and our staff doesnt have the balls to pull the trigger.

Eric Fisher was one of the worst tackles in football last year, and has been just ok
so far in the regular season, he was abused by defensive linemen in the preseason. Give it time, it usually takes 2-3 years for these tackles to come into their own, most of them don't live up to their draft status until year 3 (Tyron Smith, Trent Williams, Eugene Monroe etc..). Rarely do you see young LT's come into league stymying defensive ends that have been in an NFL weight training program for years, it takes time, added strength, and shoring up their technique.

I saw that today and my reaction was "then why the hell isn't he playing?!?!?!?!?!"

Prisco happens to be right on this one, along with Ryan O, Lageman, Alfie, etc.  Play the kid.

I can't see that being the case. Gus and the staff must really believe there's something to be gained doing it this way.

Gus and Dave are playing with fire right now. Either they think the team isn't ready for Bortles, or Bortles isn't ready for the team, but either way it's their necks on the line.

If they wait until next year to play him and he has a typical first year kind of experience and the Jaguars don't even make it to .500 it'll be Gus and Dave called into Shad's office, not Chad and Blake.

I'm surprised we haven't seen a topic about this today.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:More power to them.  In the end, they're going to wind up being disappointed.

The funny thing is with the offensive line once again being reshuffled, putting Bortles in there and running the risk of injury behind a completely untested group is completely logical to the malcontents.  If they put him out there and he got hurt behind that line, the same idiots would be howling about how stupid it was to put their best QB out there in that situation knowing it put him in harms way.

FBT...you're exactly right. I listened today when the starting lineup was announced for the O-Line; the youth is unbelievable. Beadles, being the only starter with any significant experience. Fans moaned and groaned when Hurns went down on what many felt was an unnecessary playcall (TBH, I was one of them). I can't fathom putting an untested rookie behind an atrocious, young line; it spells massacre....and, the fans would be livid with anger. Bortles will get in, and it's looking like sooner than what we were told...but, I personally feel uncomfortable inserting him behind that line.

As far as the fans being a joke? I travel the country extensively for my job, and even moved here from Dallas (former Cowboys season ticket holder), and I can say that the Jaguars fan isn't seen as a joke; it's the team, their record, and even some of the moves they've made. Maybe someone else has experienced something different, but I personally haven't. I'd much more rather be a Jaguars fan than a Cowboys fans; the "future" is very bright here in Jacksonville...can't really say that about Dallas. Do I want to see Bortles? Heck yes!! But, not behind an offensive line that hasn't performed well together, nor behind a line that will see him being carted off the field. It's a risk vs. reward scenario; will Bortles get us into the playoffs with our current lineup, and if not, will the risk be worth it?

The same argument could be made for cheering. Why cheer? Sports are emotional. I don't quite get your take FBT. Should we all be devoid of emotion and just sit there? When I jump up and down watching the TV on away games, it doesn't help the team win right? Then what's the point?

Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch says don't blame QB Chad Henne for things that aren't his fault

That's utterly ridiculous. I remember a few times Henne didn't recognize the blitz at the line. That's on him before the ball is snapped. He held onto the ball too long a few other times.

Bradley said the team never considered starting rookie Blake Bortles[Image: icon-article-link.gif] ahead of Henne Sunday.

“We really haven’t talked about that,” Bradley said. “We just put all of our focus on Chad. We said, ‘Hey, we feel good. He’s the starter.’ We just feel good about what he has done.”

They were afraid the QB wasn't good enough to help him be successful.
