Your logic of Dave Caldwell having a 1/3 chance of hitting a Telvin Smith type player in the 5th is complete nonsense. Saying those are "just facts" is just silly. Thats like saying if that had been Caldwell's first draft, he would have a 100% chance of selecting a Telvin Smith type player in the 5th.


I walked to my mailbox this morning. I was on pace to circumnavigate the planet. Just stating facts.

I gave a hypothetical to show that late rounders have value.  I also listed 7 players to illustrate that these picks do have value, not to mention the fact that they can be packaged to move up and target players.  It's obvious we have two different philosophies: I want to keep late round picks and continue to build the team thru the draft, you want to spend them on players in their 30s who will be FAs after the season because you are in win now mode.   Different philosophies.  I have a feeling that by January, we'll all be happy we still have the picks.
