***The official head coach search thread***

Quote:Ever coach makes hind-sighted "bad decisions", I'm more focused on his ENTIRE BODY OF WORK since he's been in Houston. Which included two division titles with QB's named Brian Hoyer, Brock Osweiler, and Tom Savage.
Blame PFT for putting out a report that he's not happy with the Texans and want's out.

Guessing we'd likely hear something by Wednesday after Denver hires Vance Joseph...#fightformccoy

Quote:Meh. I don't know man. When I was younger and he was the DC here he wasn't shy about laying into a player's [BAD WORD REMOVED] for a mishap during practice drills. Don't be fooled by his silver hair and timid smile. The dude can be an [BAD WORD REMOVED] if he needs to be.

Which I think is what Walters meant too. They loved Gus, but they needed someone to truly hold them accountable. Gus preached it, but never enforced it. Smith enforces it.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

After the Tinhorns beat the Pats on Saturday we'll hire McDaniels asap.... lol
No Fun

Michael Silver says don't rule out Marrone out yet. Think he's close with Tony Khan.

I know there's a lot of talk about Mike Smith getting the Jags job. Don't count out Doug Marrone. Impressed his bosses as interim HC.

I know Khan hasn't seen competent coaching but one good game and one game that end like most of our games isn't impressive.

So Jax is zoning in on a HC but we also shouldn't rule out Marrone, Smith, McDaniels, or Shanahan?

On Jaguars Today, Dempsey briefly talked to Caldwell and said it appeared that nothing was imminent. He also said Caldwell was being very tightlipped and didn't confirm that they were done interviewing. Basically no one knows what is going on lol.

Any chance they both end up on staff? Could Marrone be an OC candidate

Mike Smith is great and all, but there's just something about his personality that's just very bland. Like he has no personality. Even tho Bill Belicheck is bland in interviews, you stilll get sense of his personality. Same thing with Andy Reid. But with Mike Smith he feels like a politician hiding something.

Completely irrelevant post, I know, but it's how I look at him

I think Marrone has earned himself a head coach shot somewhere.

I personally hope it's with us, but I don't think he stays on staff otherwise.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Pretty much this. No one has any idea.

I do feel we'll know soon, as in today or tomorrow. But the Front Office has been so tight lipped about everything, I doubt anyone knows.

There's also the fact that the firm Khan hired to help search are very high on Shanahan. Though I can't remember where the report of that was.

I know what you meant but I think you meant to put "hired" instead of "fired" on your second to last sentence. Just helping a brother out! Smile

I have been thinking exactly the same thing.  Since we can all make a pick, I want Tom Coughlin.  He is the total package when it comes to HC in the NFL.  I would give him the bank and anything else he wants to come here and straighten this mess out.

As much as I would like Tom Coughlin back, is it not a little telling that he hasn't interviewed elsewhere? If no one else is interested, you have to ask yourself why.

I think Coughlin will end up with the Jaguars in some way. It's very telling that he's had no other "interviews". I don't believe he even interviewed with us, I think they just had a discussion about the jaguars going forward and what role he can hold in upper management.

At least they make up for crappy football with the best off-seasons ever!
