BigCatCountry continues to try and prop up Alualu as a solid player

Quote:His off the field problems occurred in Atlanta in 08'.

He played a very limited role in Jax. I wouldn't call that, "very well." That's pretty ridiculous.
I don't remember much about Jackson, but I do remember him getting a HUGE 4th and 1 stop.

That's not anything to write home about, but please, give me one 4th and 1 stop from The Run D Juggernaut Alualu... Just one...

Shouldn't be much to ask with someone who has started 5 years.

Quote:Harvey played a different position with a completely different role.  You're still not understanding this.

He isn't talking about the position, he is talking about Alualu being just as terrible of an all around football player.

Well, he's not "terrible."  You've yet to prove that in nearly a dozen pages.

We're still waiting.

Well, there's this INT that sealed the first road win in 2011.

Lol what are you talking about dude? This whole thread ive talked about his liability in the run D.

He was BENCHED, I dont have to prove anything about him being sub-par, because it has already been proven.

YOU are the one who still has yet to present a decent play from a " solid " d-lineman that has started for 5 years.

Invisible on the field.

Provides no push on the line WHATSOEVER.

What more do you have to be bad at to be a bad 5 tech? Serious question, have u ever watched this dude fire off the snap? Its a joke! He loses probably 91% of his matchups from this alone.

when he was at DT in the 4-3, he wasnt really there to applyf pressure... he did more chewing up blocks which if u look back he wasnt bad at doing... he consistently would pull 2 lineman a free up the ends for 1 on 1... the lack of pressure was more on the ends than it was on alualu... im not gonna act like he was great, but just because u didnt notice or thought he was invisible, doesn't mean he wasnt doing his job.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Are you kidding me dude? That was a really pathetic attempt at saving your argument

I said " 4th and 1 stop ", not a fluke. I said a 4th and 1 stop because, ya know, that would be a good play by a defensive lineman.

Dealing with Tyson Alualu apologist is hilarious.

" Dont use sack totals to judge Alualu!!!!"

You're right, lets just use interceptions (not caused by anything he did BTW) to judge him. Derrick Harvey had an INT his first regular season game as a Jaguar, people always used to say he was good against the run too, does that make him a " solid " Dlineman?

You're a freaking joke kid.

If being good at" chewing up blocks" means getting whooped up and down the field...

We didnt draft him at 10 to " chew up blocks", we drafted him to be an all around DT.

4-3 DT are suppose to chew up blocks... but i cant argue about his draft position... unfortunately the same guy who severely over drafted him also picked our punter over russell wilson... if he would have been 2nd or 3rd round, i think it would be easier to like him...but since he had first round expectations, i think it was a hard pill to swallow as a jag fan... and since D lineman are judged by fans mostly off sacks, he looks worse than he is... all im saying is i dont think he gets worked as bad as u put it..., not to mention he looked better when we put him at end...never understood why we drafted a DE who was kinda undersized and  stuck him at DT where he was way undersized.

I know what DTs are supposed to do. When you draft someone at 10, you dont draft them to take up blockers, you draft them to stuff runs/ provide push/ apply pressure.

If Alualu was a 2nd or 3rd round pick, i doubt he would be here. Gene Smith gave him 32 mil, if he had a 2nd/ 3rd rounders salary, he would of been cut by now.

Looked better? He was BENCHED. How much better could he have played if he was benched? Better yet, if he did in fact play better than he had before, and STILL got benched, how does that make up a " solid " player?

You asked for a timely play and you got one.  Sorry that didn't work out the way you expected.

Quote:I forget he's still on the team most of the time, that should tell you enough about how big of role that 1st rounder plays on our team.
wasnt his fault Gene over drafted the dog crap out of him... i dont think he is 1st round quality by any stretch but the guy has started every game since getting here and managed to stay healthy for 4 years in the trenches.

LOL!!! This is literally too easy!

You seriously took his ONE sack last year to back your argument? I forgot how we can only use sacks to defend Alualu, not judge him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjrSROkj3tw

Look at the first play of this highlight film, Alualu gets in the backfield, and still cannot make the play, saving a 20 yard run. Dont even bother with the rest of the plays... Alualu still looks bad, they just dont run toward him

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDejgWuV6bM

3:20, and the very next play.... PERFECT EXAMPLE of him not being able to " hold the point " like so many people here claim.

Too easy Pirk... Too easy.

LOL...you really hate this guy.... i get being mad about us over drafting and a guy not producing to your expectations, but you are pretty unrelenting.

why would we have cut him if he had a smaller salary?

LOL... keep flailing.  That was far too easy... two plays he made when it's been suggested he's "yet to present a decent play."
