This game is huge in terms of Trevor Lawrence and the Main Stream Media. Herbert is the darling. And the MainStream Media wants to continue that narrative.

What are brackets and doubles? Legit asking.

The bracket is when a defender plays underneath the receiver while a safety sits above him, "bracketing" him between the two. It's usually a zone look. Double is when you play man with one guy and have a safety roll towards the receiver so that there's a second guy covering him after around 10 yards. Both looks are designed to help the CB and neutralize that 1 player.

Not much difference, bracketing is mainly just another name for doubling somebody. The scheme typically determines the little difference. You'll see a lot more bracket coverage from teams that run a Cover 2 that drops 2 Safeties and plays mostly Zone, like flsprtsgod said above. Vs say a Cover 1/3 Defense which use a single high Safety. Although Cover 1 is more Man based and Cover 3 is more Zone based.

Gus Bradley runs the classic Cover 3 Defense.

Lovie Smith ran the classic Cover 2 Defense this season with the Texans.
