NFLPA wins grievance case and slams Jaguars management

Reading that article on jaguars.com for just one split, shred, hair of a second made me ask: what if Marrone actually is a good coach, and this is all Coughlin's doing?

0.68 seconds, I snapped back to reality, but as Amelibot can attest, that is nearly an eternity.

Lol!! I did the exact same thing. Maybe Marrone hasn't been able to do what he wants. Then I read bits like this

He also said Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin has not addressed the situation with him, adding: “We did have obviously a conversation that I just said I wasn’t going to be prepared to address it. That was about it.”

And then I realize, nice guy, horrible HC

You might want to watch the press conference then decide.

What I got from it is that he (Doug Marrone) is not involved as far as fines and whatnot within the organization.  He's saying that he as well as the other coaches are basically on the "same level" as far as the "organizational hierarchy" or somewhere in between the players and the front office.  It looks to me like the statement from the NFLPA is clearly aimed at Coughlin.

At this point, if I was Shad Khan I would either fire or ask for Tom Coughlin's retirement at the end of the season.  I do think that's going to happen.

The fate of Doug Marrone is a question mark, but since this is a result's based business he is probably going to be dismissed.  What will happen I certainly don't know, but again if I was Shad Khan I might consider giving him until the end of his contract (2021 season).  The only reason I say that is to keep continuity at the position.  Constant turnovers of the Head Coach is not good for a football team.  The other thing is, was the 2017 season at least partially due to him being the HC?  Was the 2018 season results partially due to injuries?  Does the actions of Tom Coughlin have anything to do with the 2019 season?

As far as Caldwell, I think it would probably depend on how much he was/was not involved with the fines/grievances.  My gut feeling is that he will probably stay.

My final thought is that this whole mess including the state of the franchise and the team is directly because of the actions of Tom Coughlin and the Front Office.

*Campbell, the Jaguars’ NFL Players Association representative, discussed an NFLPA memo sent to NFL players this week outlining a recent NFLPA victory over the Jaguars in an arbitration case in which $700,000 in fines levied against former Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler were rescinded. The memo also stated 25 percent of grievances in the last two years involved the Jaguars. “That’s a big number,” Campbell said. “I do know we’re trying to create a winning culture. The guys in here seem happy. Nobody’s unhappy. We go to work every day, and everybody has a smile on their face. We have a great camaraderie in this locker room and there are no real issues for the most part. Guys go through the [arbitration] process. I didn’t know they were going through the process that often, but as long as guys get their money back and everything works out the way it’s supposed to, it will be OK.” …

The next CBA is going to be interesting. Will they continue to let the inmates get closer to running the entire asylum. I smell a lockout.

Don't fire Coughlin.

Instead, demand that he turns up at the team's facilities at ungodly hours every night. 3am meetings every day. If he fails to, fine him. If he complains, shout him down and badmouth him to the press.

Continue this until he apologises to the players and quits.

Lol, like Coughlin isnt already there at 3am every day. He's a classic workaholic.

This franchise has egg all over it's face. Coughlin must be going more insane in his later years.

This move really doesn't impact the coaching staff with just two weeks left.

But it at least shows Khan still has a sense of urgency. This had to be done. It's unfortunate. Truly is.

But you simply cannot operate the way he has in that position. Between the embarrassing report yesterday and the terrible contracts handed to Bortles and Foles?

It's just unacceptable. Poorly, poorly handled. Now the coaches need to go.

Quote:Defensive end Dawuane Smoot overslept and missed a breakfast meeting a day before the Jaguars played the Philadelphia Eagles in London last season.

Jaguars top executive Tom Coughlin fined him $25,000, according to Smoot.

''In my circumstance, I missed something,'' Smoot said. ''I'm going to swallow my pride and I know I was going to get fined. I didn't know the amount and I would have understood if it was $1,000 or $2,000.

''But I was pissed when I saw how much it was. There's been a whole lot of questionable fines. That's a week's check. I was pretty pissed about it, but what could I do. I had to take it like a man.''

I don't think there's anything to worry about there with the CBA.

The fines Coughlin handed out were pretty crazy. $10K for missing yoga? A whole game check for over sleeping?

Come on. That's crazy.
