Hurns to open season as the WR3

Quote:Saying I prefer unproven to proven is a bit of a broad brush.

I wasn't suggesting to deal MoJo in 2008, when he was proven, but still had significant tread left on the tires. I was suggesting to deal MoJo by 2011 when it was getting to the point that the decline was on the horizon and the value would never be higher. Add to that the Jags weren't a winning team at that point WITH MoJo, so there really was little reason not to explore trade possibilities and recoup a valuable draft choice to help for the future.

In almost every trade scenario I make there is reason behind it. Its not just blindly trading arbitrary players for picks, just because.
You can spin it however you see fit.

He was coming off of microfracture surgery to his knee and a rushing title that was the 3rd lowest total yards in a decade.  He also had compiled almost 1,500 carries during that stretch which included more than 950 carries in 2009, 2010, and 2011.  He had taken a beating, and the knee was already a concern.

The combination of mileage and injury concerns were already there when you wanted to trade him.  If I recall correctly, you were saying the Jags could probably get a 2nd rounder for him.  Another laugh.  When it was pointed out that he had more value to this franchise than he did in trade, you dismissed that because that's what fantasy GMs do.

It doesn't matter if there's reason behind every boneheaded trade scenario you float out there.  You're only doing it so that when the team doesn't do as you demand, you can whine incessantly about it down the road.  We know the deal.  It's your schtick.  Do I need to dredge up your admissions again?

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

i say the same about cecil. he is worth way more to the jaguars than he would be in a trade, which ive said since day 1.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

How about that Hurns?

There are quite a few players on this roster you could attach that label to as well.  I think Shorts probably retains his status for this year.  As much as I like the receiving corps we've got, it's a young bunch that is going to need time to mature and adjust to the speed and physical nature of the game.  They haven't seen anything yet as far as a true NFL defense that's game planning for them.  The good news is that our opponents don't know what we've got either, so it'll be an interesting challenge to see how we take advantage of that early on.

Quote:Lol @ Hurns being the #1 receiver. I was impressed with what I saw from Hurns as well but come on. Let's see how he plays in the regular season before we put him ahead of shorts, Lee or Robinson. I've seen to many WRs flash in preseason then do nothing in the real season.
I would say Hurns has done more than flash. He has been a very solid receiver at whatever point in the game he played. The argument being made for Blake could be made for Hurns. He's done everything asked of him at every opportunity, not just a catch here and there in OTA's.
