Jaguars expected to sign Calais Campbell

I'm a little confused. Isn't this a whole lot of more money at the same position as Malik?

Is the plan to to be so good at collapsing the pocket from up the middle that we won't need a stellar edge rusher? Would this plan actually work?

Stroud and Henderson say YES, THAT PLAN CAN WORK

I think the plan is for him to play end not tackle. But his versatility to play inside as well adds value.

So why is there still no official announcement?
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Quote:This is big FA add. Most exciting move this off season. We are clearly winning the off season.
What else is new?  Jags have spent more on free agents since 2011 than anyone else in the NFL, and they have the worst winning percentage in that same time period.

We learned in the Sunday School who made the sun shine through.  I know who made the moonshine too, back where I come from.

Yeah on obvious passing downs..  get him inside with our young guys outside..  could be a positive impact with the corners we have as well.  Hopefully the TE won't burn us over and over again.

Because agreeing to the contract in principal can be done right away but working out the details, executing the contract, and making the official announcement could take a few days.   Until the contract is officially signed, either party can walk away.

He's still not signed yet. Negotiations are incomplete for some reason.

He was in the building this morning. They have the video driving up to the stadium and than changing into a nice suit. He met with the other FA's and had snacks. Apparently there is language in the contract that needs to be ironed out.

Quote:My first thought as well. Definitely a different tone to this thread than one started about Campbell 8-9 years ago... :teehee: :woot:

Regardless, I like the signing. Hopefully this signing is the impact dlineman the team's been hoping to hit on these past few offseasons.
